Many of our laptop issues come from outside infections or internal registry errors. How will you tell if your laptop's sluggish performance is attributable to a virus or if it needs to use one of the best registry cleaners instead? The very first thing to do is check your computer's symptoms.
The usual indication of a virus is that your computer will slow down. It's often a change that has happen really fast. If your Personal computer has gotten slower over a number of weeks you can pretty much say it is not a virus infection.
PC speed problems are also attributable to mal-ware, spy-ware, registry issues, PC overload, inadequate memory, etc. So saying that a PC has a virus because it's sluggish isn't always the case. There must be more information than that, so let us look deeper.
Different signs and symptoms of a virus are windows pop-up messages. It's like your own PCs operating system is calling out for help. Something is affecting the internal working of various functions. Viruses could ruin the windows system and stop things from operating properly, thus the pop-up messages.
Next do a quick assessment of the amount of CPU being utilized by right clicking on the bottom tool bar or tray and choosing Task Manager. When your PC is at "idle" - not being asked to do something - does the CPU Usage fall back to under 15%? If not there's something working in the background and using up the computer's capacity. And this can be a virus.
You should also make sure that your anti-virus program are updated and let it run a complete or whole computer scan. This may take a while, maybe even a couple of hours. When the scan is complete you should be able to reach some conclusions about your problem.
If you're running a high quality anti-virus software in your PC and it doesn't find any infections in the entire computer scan, you probably have one of two issues, or both: 1- you might have a spy-ware / mal-ware infection that your virus program cannot detect, or 2- you may have significant issues within the computer's registry.
I hope we could focus on spy-ware in a later post. As for using the best registry cleaners, they are programs that all computers must have for standard maintenance and performance optimization.
