I have never given anything five stars until this product came along. Having previously owned the earlier RS 160, I knew the quality of these "cans." Very comfortable and out on patio with great volume. The grandkids can I watch TV.
I haven't worn them for more than 90 minutes at a stretch, but they are comfortable for that amount of time (and that's not the case all the time for me with other headphones). My biggest complaint is that I need to turn the volume up on my source quite loud, so if I forget to adjust it before unplugging, it's extremely loud unplugged. Now that I am able to hear so well again, makes the Sennheiser RS 180 Headphones well worth their cost. I have/had both multiple wired/wireless headphones, so I've put together a mental list over time, of what worked, and what hasn't. The one minor quibble I have here is that it took me a bit of effort to figure out the pictograms in the setup manual. Mitigating that, Sennheiser includes a CD with the full manual on it and their web site has a downloadable version, too. So, to adjust the volume or balance, I've typically needed to remove the headphones to find and work the buttons. That can become a bit annoying after a while. If you are out of range, you get some chopping and then the signal drops off. I prefer this to the hissing I would get using the analog 140. They're not inexpensive, but they work (for me) really well. I purchased these for my step-father.
I've got these headphones around Jan 5, 2011. These are my first pair of over the ear headphones (I've used IEMS and ear buds before) and first wireless headphones. I have used a Sennheiser RS-65 wireless headphone since 2002. The RS-65 was a pretty good wireless set.
These cans utilize Kleer technology and an open design. I always preferred open headphones for the more natural bass response and to my 50 year old ears these sound great.
So, I'm very happy to rate these headphones at an Excellent 5 stars out of 5. It took me a long time to pull the trigger on these headphones, but believe me it was well worth the money.
This out-of-phase problem is not something I hadn't heard about before. Prior to purchasing the 180's I read reviews to the extent they existed (the 180's are a new product) and found a review where this problem was pointed out.
They aren't as good as some wired headphones I've used in the past but they are pretty darned close. As for the range, they have dropped twice, both times when I went out onto my back porch, and then only for a second each time.
