Why Laptop Chargers Are So Important

By Mark Mesa

Your laptop is your assistant for work and play, and in many cases, for keeping in touch with family and friends. Keeping your laptop and all its components in good working order is essential for the life of the machine. One of the components that you want to keep in good order is the charger, so that your laptop will be ready to go anytime you want it.

You have two ways to provide power for most laptop computers: a battery and a cord that connects it to an outside electrical source.

The electrical cord is the part used to power the internal battery. Once the laptop is used without the charger, it starts using the charge stored in the battery. Battery life depends on your usage and also on the condition of laptop and battery. In order that you do not suddenly lose the work that you are doing on the laptop, you must ensure that the battery is always fully charged.

The charger is capable of running the laptop even without the battery, but it cannot recharge the battery in this case.

Typically a battery charger has is made of three parts: a cord with a plug to be plugged to a wall socket, a power box (to convert the ac power to dc) and lastly another cord that connects this box to your laptop socket. These chargers have a power light that tells you that the charger is working properly. The laptop desktop also has an icon showing that the battery is being charged and also shows the level of charge; so that the battery life is increased.

If for any reason your charger becomes non-working, you will want to replace it quickly. The battery will only last a matter of a few hours. Once the battery is dead the only solution is to recharge it. Battery chargers do give out and the only remedy is to replace it. This is done easily and won't require a trip to the computer doctor and is not a major expense.

Look carefully for the proper electrical charger. There is one that has been designed by the manufacturer specifically for your laptop. You may conveniently research this on the Internet.

Think ahead. If your laptop is frequently used, then you ought to have a second electrical charger with you. There is nothing worse than having to halt a project, homework, or social interaction because you have run out of juice. It may be only a small investment because there are low-priced options available. In an emergency, it will be worth every penny to be able to plug a fresh cord into your laptop.
