Is The iPad 3 Improved After The Latest Upgrades

By Lenore McConn

It's finally here! Apple fans are dancing in the street with the release of the iPad 3. To avoid confusion, many people have labeled this the iPad 3, since for some reason, Apple has decided to only call it the new iPad. As with every other iPad, this new release is much more sophisticated than the last. The main features of the latest iPad are said to be very innovative. In this review, we will see if it is hype, or reality.

This new iPad, with the cursory glance, seems to be identical to the iPad 2 released not too long ago. The size, weight and shape is almost identical. Yet there are some significant differences that you can see as soon as you turn it on. The screen resolution, sitting at 2048 x 1536 resolution, has four times the pixels of the iPad 2, making it quite a sight to see. A significant issue with tablets is having the ability to see everything sharp and clear. This tablet makes it possible to see everything from videos to photos with the best resolution ever. Claiming to have the best resolution on any mobile device out there, this iPad from Apple certainly seems to have it. So if you truly care about visuals and imagery, the new iPad is an upgrade that far surpasses the iPad 2 and will impress you with no doubt.

The iPad is extremely versatile now, along with its new upgraded camera, for sharing and taking pictures. This new iPad also comes with iMovie breading videos and GarageBand for making music of your own. Many of the apps are free, and most are reasonably priced. It depends what you're looking for. Whether you're looking for news, weather, recipes or just about any type of information or entertainment, you can find an app for it. When you don't want to type, you can use the new iPad dictation capabilities, by talking into it like a tape recorder. You simply tap the microphone icon and you can start talking, then tap it again to show you're finished. With the new iPad, it will automatically make text out of your spoken words. The uses of this feature are many, including dictating a simple note, writing any kind of document, or even writing a letter or paper. You can even use dictation to do web searches or to search for a destination you're looking for. Typing can get kind of old, so you might find it easy and fun to use dictation with your new iPad.

The new iPad can be used to navigate your way around, whether you're on foot or in your car. It's easy to find things, or go to places you have never been before. Ask it to find a "Italian restaurant" or "motel" and the Maps feature will get you there. You can get turn by turn instructions, or simply choose different routes to get to where you are going. A map view or a satellite view is available when trying to see your location. You can look at your destinations up close by zooming in. You can also e-mail where you are going to others, or send it via Twitter, to the destination of your choice. Regardless of where you are traveling, the iPad can be used as a GPS to help guide your way. There is a Game Center with the latest iPad where you can play games all different kinds. The high resolution display and powerful processor will enhance your experience while playing games on your iPad.

A great way to do video calls is with FaceTime on your iPad. You are able to switch back and forth between your new iPad's two cameras to show whatever you want to. When using FaceTime, use the front facing camera to show people your face. The iSight camera will show the scene you are looking at, so you can show the person you're talking to what's around you. To make FaceTime calls, you need an Apple ID, which you can get at the App Store or the iTunes Store. Using this feature on your iPad (or any other device that works with FaceTime) will be possible after you have the ID.

The original iPad should have supported Flash, and they would have had a lot fewer dissatisfied customers. This is one change that hasn't been done by Apple, yet. There are a whole lot of websites, which you will have limited use on because you won't be able to access their Flash features. This also limits your options for watching videos. According to a lot of people, a feature that is going out of style is Flash. To make more content compatible with iPad, Apple seems to be pressuring people to use alternatives. To view many websites and videos, it is still true that flash capability is required. You get a lot of features with the latest iPad, but this is one you will have to do without.

The price of the new iPad is $500, which is not cheap when compared to other tablets on the market. If surfing the web is your primary daily activity, or perhaps using a word processor, you might want to consider getting a notebook instead of this expensive tablet. However, if you want to enjoy all of the features the iPad has to offer, and the convenience of the touchscreen, then the price will be worth it to you. There are fun features, along with a wide variety of useful ones, with the iPad 3. The latest version of Apple's creation shouldn't disappoint many people because of its great improvement. Traditional computers are still incompatible, and these iPads don't have Flash either, so be aware of that before you buy one. However, when you consider how much you can do with the new iPad, it's still a good value.

If you are in the market for an iPad, the iPad 3 will certainly not disappoint you if you make the investment. It's more expensive than most other tablets, but it also offers more in the way of features and performance. Truly an astounding device, the iPad 3, if you believe it to be worth it, it is a tablet computer that you will not regret owning once you start using it.
