People watch television program for one good reason. Because they want to be entertained, and television is the most consistent way to achieve that. So many of them all over the world will sit down in front of one and then pick up the remote to find their favorite show, or at least one that everyone can agree on.
Now, the power grid in most developed countries should be consistent. But sometimes, they can just do down. Now, having a generator around can be a great way to work around such blackouts. Of course, if the blackout affect the station, then no personal generator is going to help with that.
Being alive is not always easy. But humanity discovered ways to make it easier. It is just that those innovations need a way to work, to do their thing.
